Nothing new about the mind body connection for weight issues. But what is nice to see, is the importance of paying attention to what we are thinking and how it affects our body.
Eating with awareness, slowly and with thought, might be the best thing you can do to get the fat off.

At a recent family brunch I noticed how we all sat down and began to gulp our food like we had not eaten for days. Some habits are hard to break, but this one was easy. I suggested that we all enjoy our food and breathe between bites, and actually put our fork down for every bite. Knowing that you should do this is nothing new! But doing it is another thing entirely.
We ate half as much as we would have, and easily stopped eating since our brain got the message.
How often have you actually made a conscious choice to eat slowly?
In my recent WendiRadio show we did a hypnosis session to make the brain enjoy food with all of our senses, eating every exquisite bite with an expanded sense of joy and love.
After the show I went to the fridge and I was going to have “just a little bite” of ice cream while I decided what to have for lunch. (yes, I do that sometimes) Since we just finished our brain restructuring session, I immediately stopped and had to have broccoli. It was a simple derailment based on what we had done on the show. I still like a bite of ice cream, good stuff for the soul of course… but I loved the feeling of naturally wanting broccoli. And wow, did it taste good. The flavors were wonderful, I ate slowly and really tasted it and felt FULL after a small amount of food.

I read “My Stroke of Insight” in one sitting – I couldn’t put it down. I laughed. I cried. Her TED.com speech was one of the most incredibly moving, stimulating, wonderful videos I’ve ever seen. Her Oprah Soul Series interviews were fascinating. They should make a movie of her life so everyone sees it. This is the Real Deal and gives me hope for humanity.
